Cake Destruction

Francis fans everywhere don't need to be reminded that today is his first birthday! While he plans on celebrating with family next weekend in SC, there seemed to be no harm in having a little party today. As can be seen below (and in upcoming videos) Francis took this opportunity to destroy the cake, his clothing, and a good section of the kitchen floor.

Francis received several new books and a squishy tow truck that he can push around. It makes noise when it's rammed into something. This frightened Francis initially, but he got used to it soon enough.

Francis wore jeans for the first time today as the weather is starting to feel cooler. He has recently started pointing at everything in sight, so we spend a lot of time identifying things over and over.

Francis has enjoyed some firsts recently: he had his first snowcone last weekend (cherry flavored), attended his first (of many) Greek festivals, took his first steps on Wednesday, and bought his first pair of jeans for the Fall. We thoughtlessly took Francis to Babies R Us to shop for his birthday toys right in front of him, and then would not let him play with them.

Francis has been eating some new things recently, including pasta, cottage cheese, and falafel. Jess is particularly pleased that someone else in the house enjoys broccoli now.

Francis is looking forward to visiting his grandparents in South Carolina in a couple of weeks and celebrating his first birthday. He has been promised that there will be cake and ice cream which he has never been allowed to eat before.
